At Hometown Orthodontics, your first visit is all about getting to know you and your smile! Whether you visit us in Trussville or in Oneonta, your free consultation will typically last about 45 minutes.
Meet Our Team
From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly team and have the opportunity to meet Dr. Rape and Dr. Teeples, along with our skilled orthodontic assistants. We’re proud to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where patients of all ages feel comfortable and cared for.
Comprehensive Smile Evaluation
Your initial exam will include a detailed evaluation of your teeth, bite, and jaw alignment. We’ll often take digital photos and X-rays to get a complete picture of your smile. These tools allow us to see what’s happening both above and below the surface so we can design the best possible treatment plan.
Review of Findings
After gathering your records, Dr. Rape or Dr. Teeples will carefully review your photos, X-rays, and clinical notes. If you’ve had previous dental or orthodontic treatment, we’ll evaluate those records as well. From there, we’ll develop a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs and goals, and discuss any possible alternative options.
What Happens After Your Consultation?
Once your evaluation is complete, you’ll have two main paths forward if treatment is recommended:
1. Ready to Start Treatment
Our team will review your orthodontic insurance benefits and explain flexible payment options to make treatment affordable and stress-free. If the schedule permits, we may be able to start the same day as your consultation, but likely treatment would start 2-4 weeks later.
2. Smile Observation Program
If treatment isn’t necessary quite yet-especially for younger patients-we may recommend placing your child in our Smile Observation Program. This allows Dr. Rape and Dr. Teeples to monitor growth and development over time and begin treatment at the ideal moment for the best results.
How Often Will You Visit During Treatment?
Appointment frequency varies depending on your individual treatment plan. Most patients return for progress visits approximately every 6 weeks. These appointments allow us to make necessary adjustments and ensure your smile stays on track.
Orthodontic visits are separate from your regular dental cleanings. We strongly recommend continuing professional cleanings every 3 to 6 months during treatment to help prevent staining or white spots and keep your smile healthy.
